Power of the Tongue
Proverbs tells us life and death are in the power of the tongue.
Let’s think about that a minute and look at the example that Jesus begun.
It started when Jesus was arrested.
Taken to the high counsel and tested.
Just before Peter denied and found two false witnesses to lie.
Through all the haze two men came forward and said that they heard him say he would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days.
When Jesus was asked what he had to say he remained silent, as the crowed mocked and gazed.
The next example has Jesus standing before Pilot.
But as the accusations came Jesus still remained silent.
His life now sitting in pilot’s hands, He starts listening to the crowd’s demands.
Pilot washed his hands and denied then ordered Christ to be whipped and crucified.
Taunted, mocked, and beaten. His body nearly dead and broken.
All he would have had to say is stop, and ten thousand angels would have come floatin.
Jesus was dying and still remained silent.
If Jesus lost control of his tongue, would he have still hung?
Would God’s will have been done?
We can use this example today in just the same way.
People are going to laugh and mock us, but we can’t give up and let that stop us.
If we lose control of our tongue, we start to sound witless.
Say the wrong thing and we blow our witness.
Power of the tongue was said with a purpose, don’t throw it out and act like it was worthless.
What would this world be like if Jesus said forget it, got mad and didn’t remain silent?
It would have saved his life, but would not have been God’s will.
So use this example and watch what you say.
Cause weather you know it or not people watch you day by day.
Strive to be that example daily.
Don’t be ashamed or hide it, but realize sometime the best witness we can be is to show it in our actions and just remain silent.
