~~PICNIC AT THE CEMETERY~~ (05-19-2010)
TODAY I WENT TO VISIT
MOM AND DAD,
AND NORMALLY
THE VISITS, ARE REALLY QUITE SAD
BUT TODAY, THE VISIT
WAS A GOOD ONE
I RELEASED THEM
AND ADMITTED THEY WERE GONE
I TOOK ALONG SOME
SANDWICHES AND SNACKS
AND WE REALLY HAD A BLAST
TAKING THE PAST ONE STEP BACK
WE HAD A PICNIC
AT THE CEMETERY
AND OUR TIME WAS
ACTUALLY QUITE REAL MERRY.
WE HAD ALOT OF LAUGHS
WE HAD ALOT TO SAY
WE REMINISED OF DAYS GONE BY
AND ABOUT THE KIDS AT PLAY.
WE TALKED ABOUT LOVES
GONE WRONG
AND THEY BOTH TOLD ME
I NEEDED TO BE STRONG.
FOR THE LOVE THEY HAD FOR EACH OTHER
LASTED TO THEIR GRAVES;
A ONCE IN A LIFETIME LOVE
THAT ABSOLUTELY NOONE CAN NOW TAKE.
WE TALKED OF HARDSHIPS
AND OF THE GRANDKIDS TOO
AND HOW THE LITTLE ONES
STARE UP TO HEAVEN WHEN SKIES ARE BLUE.
THEY TOLD ME TO CLOSE MY EYES
AND TAKE IN THE WORLD ABOUT ME,
I COULD FEEL THE WARMTH OF THE SUN
ENVELOPE ME LIKE NOTHING EXPERIENCED BEFORE.
AND THE SMELLS WERE BEYOND
ANYTHING I HAVE SMELLED EVER
AND THE PICNIC AT THE CEMETERY
WILL FOREVER BE REMEMBERED.
