Off to the side of the plate, adding aesthetic quality to the offering;
Moved around and around, until eventually placed aside;
Then, tossed out with the scraps, its decorative purpose over;
I have served as the garnish at so many of your meals;
I would much rather have been the meat & potatoes.

I think everyone has at one time or another been relegated to being simply cosmetic to another's life... they sure want us around, but can easily discard our value as a person upon a whim.... good write.....

thanks for your comment...and you are so right...people's values can get screwed up.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
