Our Relevance

We watch the world
With wandering eyes and
Weary hearts.
Compassion waning
Waiting always wanting
More settling for less.

What has become of us
We are Complacent
           Obedient
              Disenchanted
              Disheartened
Looking upwards
Instead of inwards
Ignoring the writing on the walls
Searching for answers amongst the clouds.

Trapped like beasts
Awaiting the abattoir
We become
           Friends
              Lovers
              Fathers
              Brothers
We pretend that ending
Is not is eventual
Eventually though
We see that it is.
And we live with this
Become great in spite of this.
Without ending
There is no meaning

We can not still this progression
Hands both large and small
Ceaselessly seizing tomorrow
And with it
The end of us all.

Very wise. Something on offer for everybody here. 'Looking upwards Instead of inwards' is an exceptional, truly world-class observation/warning/criticism.

Thank you very much for both reading and giving feedback.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
