One Grain of Sand

  • Been very busy lately. Hope to get past some huge obstacles soon so that I can focus on some writing and spiritual renewal I desparately long for.

One Grain of Sand

One Grain of Sand

   The sands of time are passing;
now while we hold them in our hands
let us learn of strength and beauty.
The sands declare the glory of GOD; just be still and know.
All the colors of light reflect on a single grain of sand.
Every precious pearl conceived by a single grain of sand.
Given to light it mirrors life; swallowed in darkness is born anew
For the very heart of every pearl is a single grain of sand.
So the gates of New Jerusalem shall be made of pearl.
Oh, the wonders of GOD! Told on the face of one grain of sand!
                                                                                                                                   Amen.

This is poetically rich, spiritually fulfilling, and heartedly expressed! You are a wonderful poet. You possess the ability to convey God's word in such an eloquent manner. Great Job!

Erica, you should seriously consider a career in counseling! You are very inspiring! It's always so encouraging to read your comments on my poems.I had almost concluded that the world was just so shallow and plastic that there was no place and no interest in heartfelt expression anymore. Yet I've found others in this place whom I'm sure have struggled with the same dis-heartening attitudes. Thank you so much for your encouragement and inspiration. It means alot to me in my endeavors to write, with the hope of lighting the dark to find our way through. This is how I see life in our world. Ever striving to keep a light of hope shining. I oftentimes need and appreciate encouragement. You have been a true inspiration. Not only in your encouragement, but in your own work as well. Thanks.

You have this emminantly likable trait about you of appreciating little things and getting others to share your joy. Poetry is meant to be enjoyed, and you've captured verbal euphoria and put it on display.

Again, thanks for your input. It's always encouraging to find others who can grasp poetry and appreciate it. My world is very limited (deep rural south), where most folks I know and encounter just look at me like I'm an alien and many have said, "you think too much!" I've heard this all my life, and it has often been tempting to throw away my pen and paper. But I am a poet; it's part of me. Anyway, just wanted let you know that I truly appreciate the encouragement I get from fellow poets. Thank you.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
