    Old Nassau

    I walked the crowded streets
    of Old Nassau,
    thinking of you
lost in a sea of humanity
but all alone in my thoughts....

    Paradise Island
    its juxtaposition
    of opulence and poverty,
    of saphire blue sea -
    violent, tumultuous and carefree
against the confined space and time
    of Atlantis.

i let the hot sands run through my fingers.
    like our memories,
    you slipped away
    grain by grain
    until all that's left
    are pieces of you
    in my empty hand.
    of what used to be.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
