I've seen you from a distance....

I've seen you from a distance,
    walking with long lean strides
Time and space bow in rememberance.

Oh how i miss your counternance,
the tears, laughters, the happy sad sides
of you. I've seen you from a distance.

I know i need air as sustenance.
but i would give it up, give it all up to the tides.
Time and space bow in rememberance.

What is a soul? its substance
    transformed when atoms collide,
    as i, I who've seen you from a distance.

It is much too cruel, this poetic license -
    this attempt to describe, provides
no further insights. In the presence

    I shall give penance;
    for each longing thought abides.
I've seen you from a distance.
Time and space bow in rememberance.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
