Nurses

Nurses are a special breed, helping those who are in need. Influenced by Florence Nightingale, their dedication will not fail. Over worked and under paid, not sorry for the choice they made. Many hours of education, from basic nursing to medications. When the job becomes too stressful, they remember the oath that made them successful. If just one patient says thank you with a smile, the nurse knows in her heart, it's all worth while.Uniforms as white as snow and a cap on their heads like a halo. Angels of mercy is what they're called, A title well earned after all.

A lot of food for thought here. The one that impacts me most is "says thank you with a smile". I've had some nurses who truly deserved 'a thank you with a smile'. Nurses whose touch was soft, gentle, and loving when I was hurting too hard to stay conscious. Thank you for these thoughts.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
