Not Meant To Be
John, I am writing this poem for youTo help you understand about me too.
Your thoughtfulness and manners surely outweigh
All of the men I have ever met I have to say.
Dropping me off at the door to keep me from getting cold
Well that in itself would never grow old.
I appreciate your thoughtfulness when opeing the door
What a gentleman who could ask for anything more.
Holding my hand in a very special way
Now I will think back to those two wonderful days.
You have a passion for God up above
Although I believe I don't share that great of a love.
Thirty years ago you had a crush on me
We met again but it just wasn't meant to be.
God threw us together I don't understand his plan
All I know is that I met a wonderful man.
Stay true to your passion for it is part of you
Keep on believing it is the right thing to do.
I thank God for the time that we had
But I can't help but feel a little sad.
Hoping against hope that you were the one
But my search continues now that we are done.
I hold no grudges as we part
Thank you for filling up a piece of my heart.
