    night

The rythmic breathing of the night
Ebbs and flows in tune like a well known melody.
Muted bells ring in the distance.
A lowing of a woman birthing her child,
The life-bringing wail of her baby
Pierces the darkness and brings light into the night.

As a woman who just gave birth just after midnight, a week & a half ago, I like this! Especially the part about bringing light into the night!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
