    Nathanial

    May 18, 2009

    Evolved neophyte, awaken!
    Another time will come,
    your old soul to surrender,
    into slumber’s eternal night.

    Be wise; arise, awaken,
    dark is dispersed by light,
    by love’s vigilant force taken,
still while in near your sight.

    Child of my child, awaken!
that your life force may take hold,
    appear, keep us not waiting,
    golden auras fade to old.

    Anew, sentient, and waken
    fresh sapling, virtuous be,
    keep a mortal’s life suspended,
for a war cry filled with glee.

    This infant laid before me,
    indignant as if distressed,
    emanating fated duties
by the meaning of his name.

    Nathanial, “God’s Gift”; revealing,
    a purposed herein bestowed,
    for his divine enlightenment
choosing the best cherub from the hordes.

    Fear not the inexplicable dawning,
a journey is but a dream,
    your birth, my immortality,
your hand in mine I’ll keep.

    As consciousness divulges,
now the precious babe will sleep,
    held tight between the couple,
    who’ll keep his path pristine.

I like it, K. Don't hope for it; declare it! Purposeful, positive intent generates positive results; a priceless gift to the child to whom it is bequeathed!

Wow! This is a beautiful poem! So true and concise, not a word out of place. When I read a poem like this it reminds me I have much work to do as a poet, but at the same time inspires me to continue on. I hope you continue to post more of your work.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
