MY SHOES
I'm almost at the point of no return
whereas
I must turn around and look back on my life
and what I've learned
but I'm all too concerned
on certain actions I've taken
just maybe I'm mistaken
but it feels as if I've taken
a turn down a dead end road
and at the same time I've lost my way
somebody please tell me which way I must travel
to find my way home
I've grown as a man
in mind as well as spirit
I was told in my younger days
that life would be a challenge
I just didn't want to hear it
but as time progresses the message
becomes much more clear
and in the meager 26 years that I've been here
I managed to pay attention and take in
everything that I possibly could
intelligent as I may be
I'm still
so misunderstood
what would you do
if you were to step in my shoes
and walk my walk
for just one day
and watch your skies turn from blue
to the darkest shade of gray
I may joke and I may play
but that's all a clever ruse
to fool the peering eyes
I
welcome any man to try
to walk a mile
better yet just take a step
in the pair i wear
but it's impossible
only i cad move in my shoes
