My Prison

It's been 7 years since we said "I Do"
Every day I'm reminded of what you won't do

You never have time for what needs to be done;
Yet expect so much from everyone

Your own agenda is so important to your kind,
Just once someone else's should pop into your mind

The days run together like melted wax,
Constantly I'm reminded of what you lack

Memories of our courtship still clutter my mind
With thoughts of "how could I have been so blind"

So now I am left with my final decision;
I must leave you now and Escape this Prison.

No I am not bitter at all, just putting it all behind me and moving on. Thanks Stryx for your thoughts and comments.

Wow...a Powerful and Meaningful Write and though serious and heart felt I couldn't felt but laugh at how easily you expressed your feelings...yes a Prison indeed....(Bravo, clapping)...Thanks for sharing!

sad enough marriage has lost its sanctity and respect, somewhere along the line we forget to care for the one we join with and tend to live how we want without regard to them or they feelings. where have all the true marriages gone, or better yet where have all the morals gone, its about sacrifice thats worthy of love and attention with happiness until the end, and for many especially in this day and time 7 years is long, but remember one thing the number seven is the number of completion, the day God rested after creating woman. I love it the poem is one of my favs for sure

divorce is final....thanks for your comment

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
