    My Apology

I'm sorry for what i'm putting you through,
and the time that i'm away.
But be sure when I get home baby girl,
that by your side i'll stay.
I know i'm not the one doing time,
for you are doing it as well.
But God will bless us one hundred times more,
for putting us through this hell.
I'm sorry for not being there,
when you needed me the most.
I look back on opportunites I passed,
for that i'm now a ghost.
I had everything I could ever want,
    right before my sights.
Now everything I loved is taken,
and i'm left with lonely nights.
I'm sorry for the pain i've caused you,
for the same pain I share.
I long for the day were back together,
or just to smell your hair.
I've done some rotten things baby girl,
and i'm sorry for each and every one.
But I guarantee you this my love,
with these things I am done.
I've abolished all of my old ways,
and thrown them out the door.
I want to turn the bad to good,
and give you so much more.
I'm sorry for all the bad i've done,
    and all thte hurt inside.
We are no longer subjects to this,
we no longer have to hide.
I'm sorry for alot of things,
especially the pain you hold in your head.
But there is one thing I wont apologize for,
and thats for whom I wed.

Very specific details of a life that went astray. But there is hope there because the subject of the poem has accepted the guilt or blame and sees getting past it all. Don't know if this is from a personal experience or just your imagination, but it is well done!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
