    Mother may I

    Mother may I admire you...
for the many ways you showed your love for me,
Though I did not understand at the time,
I know now you had only the best intentions for me,

    Mother may I see clearly
    your courage.
In a time of terrible darkness,
you did all you could to keep us going.
Though you were going through such deep despair,
you never faultered for a moment.
How you were able to keep it together
    I will never truly understand.

    Mother may I forgive you?
I blamed you for so many years
for the pain I felt inside my own heart,
Though it was shaped in many ways by events in our childhood,
I know you are not to blame.

    Mother may I forgive myself?
for every time I cried out for God to make you pay
for what clearly was not your sin.

For every time I disappointed you,
For every dream that I could not fufill ,
For the love that I did not show to you,
For the darkness that I felt and could not express to you.

    Please forgive me Mother.

I'm sure if she read this she would forgive you; because she probably have already done so. It's time for you to forgive yourself.
