Morning
Arising, I take in the view of the hills in the distance...
Barely able to discern the barns amidst the smoky fog.
Hearing a cow give bellow, probably calling her calf.
I head for the kitchen to pour a cup of coffee
That I stopped drinking several years prior.
I reach for a cigarette that I stopped smoking years ago.
I gaze out the picture window
That frames such lovely land scape.
It's where I sit
Sipping the coffee I don't drink anymore...
Puffing the smoke I gave up long ago.
Another day
Not unlike the one yesterday.
The sun has risen unseen
Hidden by clouds.
Like God
It is there none the less.
The sky now steady with motion
Swirling and changing
Shifts to deep ship gray
and what looks like a whole lot of snow
Coming our way.
I sit not drinking my coffee
I sit not puffing my smoke.
Everything is quiet, so still
A storm waiting to break.
Much like my heart.
I sip my coffee
I puff on my smoke
Watching the snow now falling.
I am at peace
Alone.
Barely able to discern the barns amidst the smoky fog.
Hearing a cow give bellow, probably calling her calf.
I head for the kitchen to pour a cup of coffee
That I stopped drinking several years prior.
I reach for a cigarette that I stopped smoking years ago.
I gaze out the picture window
That frames such lovely land scape.
It's where I sit
Sipping the coffee I don't drink anymore...
Puffing the smoke I gave up long ago.
Another day
Not unlike the one yesterday.
The sun has risen unseen
Hidden by clouds.
Like God
It is there none the less.
The sky now steady with motion
Swirling and changing
Shifts to deep ship gray
and what looks like a whole lot of snow
Coming our way.
I sit not drinking my coffee
I sit not puffing my smoke.
Everything is quiet, so still
A storm waiting to break.
Much like my heart.
I sip my coffee
I puff on my smoke
Watching the snow now falling.
I am at peace
Alone.
