    Mom

    There is no stronger love
Than a mother and her daughter
The fights and bonding never grow old
    Neither does the laughter
I’m thankful for you in every way
The way you care and fight
    If I didn’t have you
The dark would be the night
The stars that twinkle in your eyes
Or the sunlight in your hair
    Brilliant mind, body, and soul
I love the way your fair
    Everyday you fight for me
And strive to make it through
And for all that there are no words
In how I could thank you
    Sometimes I can’t believe it
    That you’re the only one
That understands the way I work
You help me when I’m done
The trust I have for all you do
    I couldn’t tell you wrong
But it’s as if you live your life
As if it were a song
The cadence in the life you live
And the way you work things out
It’s the little things you do
    Those make it really count
Now mothers and daughters will always fight
    Yell and scream and shout
But if either of us is terribly wrong
You bet your boots well pout
We make mistakes and own them all
    Life is hard it seems
But when we don’t or when we fail
We take one for the team
    You may dance on tables
    And embarrass me a lot
    I might dress in clothing
    You may like or not
    We live for silly moments
As if it were a show
It doesn’t matter where you are
    Rain, or sun, or snow
Thank you mom for all you done
I’m glad that it’s not over
I know well never grow far apart
    Life will bring us closer
I love you mommy don’t forget
    I’m your little baby
And all the mistakes life can bring
We work to have them fading
    In life we lose those
    Ones we love
And hold on to ones we hurt
But we need to turn that all around
    And make another start
I cannot bear the dreadful idea
    Of losing all of you
No more cheating, hiding, or lies
    In life there’s only true
I take this to my grave mom
I take it with my all
    This will never be again
    I now today stand tall
    I learned a valuable lesson
    Hold life by the tail
Because you don’t know what it brings you
    Win or lose or fail
You taught me much I need to know
The rest yet to be learned
But mom believe me when I say
Ill gain your trust you earn.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
