Love Only Me

Love Only Me

I watch as you sit there,

With the one who loves you at your side.

And I wonder, is your love true to her?

While the love I have for you I must hide.

People tell me that you love me,

If it is true, why will you not say?

Could it be that you are afraid?

And letting your mind get in your heart's way.

Open your heart and listen,

And you will finally see.

That it was your mind that wouldn't let you,

Love only me.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
