Love is in the Air

Love is in the Air

When we made eye contact that day,
I was frozen yet warm all over but with nothing to say.
I felt this feeling that shot straight to my heart,
I felt in that moment as though nothing could tear us apart,
That twinkle in your eye, it was as if it was a sign from way up high.
I wanted to say "hello," or even "hi" but could not stop smiling, staring into your eyes.
As you smiled back, looking at me, I told myself, "This is the one, my one to be."

There was no longer a reason to feel loneliness or despair,
Because I saw within your heart that you care.
When I'm with you all my problems just disappear.
I can't think straight whenever you’re near.
I've felt something in me, since the time of my birth.
Now that I found you, I'm the luckiest man on earth,

When I'm all alone, all I think about "is you".
When I wake up in the morning, or just have nothing else to do.
You’re the last thing I think about at night,
That's why when I go to bed I hold you tight.
I love you so much. You mean the world to me.
This was not luck, but fate, and meant to be.

This is how I feel about my husband of almost thirty-one years. We have four grown children married and out of the house. Our love is ever stronger than ever. Just weather through the tough times, smooth sailing after that...Love's a rollercoaster ride.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
