Poem Commentary

This is the result of too much thinking and not enough problem solving.

Living To Suffer

Nowhere are these eyes, they've seen too much
Nowhere are these dreams, they've experienced enough
Somewhere in that crowd lurks my true love
grasping at his heart that's come undone

Nowhere is the black shadowed love that died;
Nowhere is my mind, the calling's done.
Somewhere down that road the damage lies,
someday I will find the reason for tonight.

Nowhere are these ears, they've heard it all;
everywhere are these tears, they fall & fall;
caressing my cheeks, drowning my chest:
for one day this will be called my secret past.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
