Lightning Bolts

Smells like static.

Shocked to smiles.

Sudden inspiration for appreciation.

And that’s when you’ve told me enough.

I’ll laugh and you can huff

Until bop-it yells “pass it!”

And we get down with those busted beats.

Du du du-du du

And at that point I’ll huff and you’ll laugh

And we’ll continue until one of us gets too much gas.

And even then, you’ll wait while I rise

Until the cake is done and smirfts have won

Which Leads me to nights like these,

Where my lips feel like they’re in heat

As the words slip, out skipping the beats

And climbing the sentences

And crossing the yard just to find

How many licks it takes to get to the center.
