    Leaving Nadir

The air waxed stale, the milieu cold,
In the pit where I've lingered to long.
    I mused,"Why delay the exit,
From this place thats void of song."

I'm diggin out, not crawlin in.
    I'm climbing up, not diving.
I'm breathing air not breathed before.
    Not looking back,I'm thriving.

I'm headin home to the better way,
Not drenched in guilt or fear.
I've packed my bags and movin on,
    At last I'm leaving Nadir.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
