Just a Simple Piece of String
A piece of yarn?
What of this thing?
It’s just a simple piece of string.
This thread of blue
May have a pretty hue.
But, what else can it do for you?
It’s too frayed to pass through a needle’s eye.
It’s too short for a bow,
Don’t even try.
Can’t use it for a shoe, parcel, or anything.
It’s just a simple piece of string.
Just a simple piece of string.
What’s so special about this thing?
Well, when dragged across the floor,
And nothing more,
To a cat
It’s everything.
What of this thing?
It’s just a simple piece of string.
This thread of blue
May have a pretty hue.
But, what else can it do for you?
It’s too frayed to pass through a needle’s eye.
It’s too short for a bow,
Don’t even try.
Can’t use it for a shoe, parcel, or anything.
It’s just a simple piece of string.
Just a simple piece of string.
What’s so special about this thing?
Well, when dragged across the floor,
And nothing more,
To a cat
It’s everything.
