    Inheritance

    Knicknacks, spoon racks, useless things
    Brooches, bracelets, Aunt Edna's rings
Things I've kept for many a day
    I do not need them...away...away

    Possessions only weigh me down
As I take wing and fly from town
Free to fly both far and wide
Filled with love and joy I'll glide

Those I love will gather and pray
They'll wish I'd stayed another day
Some will cry, their voices shrill
Others will wonder, where's the will

    Money's not my forte
     I never needed toys
    I leave my family memories
Of love and fun and joys

And as my ashes float away
I'll hear my loved ones voices say
Good bye, farewell, don't go away
I need you in my life each day

I'll be there in the sunshine
And in the wind and rain
I'll be there in your memories
    Forever to remain

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
