    Inescapable

    I wandered and I saw
    A monster's drooling, dripping maw.
I quickly turned and ran away
Only for an unsure return another day.
I do all I can but there's no escape
From those claws that rip and scrape
Me from the fabric of my being.
I ponder but see no hope of fleeing
All is lost but to surrender.
Would only make me much more tender
And ready for my coming demise
A treat for those hard, cruel eyes.
