    Poem Commentary

i was falling for her, but it could never be true

    If She were Mine

When I first saw her beautiful face

All I could do was gaze

Because her beauty caught my eyes

That melted my heart from an arctic ice

I don’t want to do anything irrational

So I walk and talk to her as a friend

    If she were mine

She would be the only motivation I need

To walk the earth with ease

I would do anything to give her bliss

    I would give earth peace

    If it satisfied, her

Love is all I ever sought after.

My thoughts and dreams have been all about her

    My heart would be pounding

    At the second we touch

An instant gaze to her eyes

Would lit my heart with craze

    There’s something about her

    That makes my heart beat

She’s like the storm in my heart

    That won’t let me sleep

Because all I think about is her

Her heart is just like a maze

    I struggle in daze

    Because this maze

Brought me to different places in her heart

    That led me puzzled

Because she could never be mine

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
