    Hello and Goodbye

    Hello, I'm the little girl you brought into the light,
    I'm the little girl, so cold and full of fright;
    I was so afraid, I didn't know what to do,
    and then there you were, just talking me through.

    We have been through so much, these past few years,
    so much pain and sorrow, and I cried so many tears;
    I washed away the sorrow, the fear and the pain,
    my soul was being cleansed, with this blanket of rain.

    This scared little girl, with so many faces,
    couldn't come out, of her dark hiding places;
    but there you were, with your guiding hand,
    I will always be grateful, for I know that was your plan.

    I couldn't do it myself, but you were always there,
    I know in my heart, how much you really cared;
    so this is goodbye, for I am set free,
    to go out in this world and just be me.

    Nice poem about mentorship, love, and letting go.

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
