Hammer in My Heart

Hammer in My Heart

Hammer in my heart
How you got there
Had many royal oats
Willing to share
Wanted to take me
On a ride
On a steel horse
New millennium pride
Knight in the dark
Night in moonlight
Ride off
Out of sight

Hammer in my heart
Pounding daily
Keeping me alive
Without skipping a beat
The day became one
Call it love
Pain in my heart
Cursed from above
Constant rhythm
Never end
Pulsating emotions
Time yet again

Hammering my heart
Like a hammer drill
Construction solitary
It’s you still
Burning inside
For all eternity
Hammer in my Heart
Keep beating for me
Driving nails
Keeps me combined
If you stop
Just a matter of time

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
