    Guilt after Death

    Dry your tears
    Act like nothings wrong
    You know what they'll say,
    If they knew you cared
    But what does it matter
    He's just another lost soul
    Two different lives,
    And worlds apart
You a prep, him an outkast
The two can never be one
But you thought you could change that,
    Thought you could change him.
    You were wrong
You tried to save him much to late
Now there he lies, dead, in your arms
Should you have done it yourself
Would that have made it easier for him?
You did this, because of you he's dead
    He tried to tell you
    But you didn't listen
    You couldn't accept it,
    How he loved you.
So you left him leaving him alone
    Cold, and depressed
    Already dead inside.
    YOU COULD HAVE SAVED HIM!
    But you failed again.
His blood is on your hands
    You saw the signs
But turned a blind eye in ignorance.
    You should have said something,
    Told someone, anyone
Would it have made a difference
    Could it have stopped him
All he wanted was your love
    But you were to scared.

The Memorial is in a few hours
    Can you do it
    Can you go
Do you have what it takes
You didnt when he was alive
    Why start now
Can you tell them why he did it
That it's your fault their only son lies dead
Can you handel it if they hate you
    What if they comfort you
Tell you that you were innocent of this
    Why didnt you do anything
You didn't believe he would ever really do it
In your mind you play it over and again
"You should have listend" he says.
"Why come now? It's to late, leave"
"Why, don't do this, please", I say
    "I'm sorry please don't I..."
    BANG
    "...love you too."
    To late he's dead.
You start screaming over and over no
Screaming how you love him to, this isn't real
As they take his body you sit
    Staring numb at the gun
Wondering what it must have been like for him
    Did it hurt, or instantaneous?
    What does it matter though
He’s dead and your soul with him.
And his blood is on your hands.

Wow, this poem gave me chills... Those deep down, reach all the way to your soul type chills. Very dark yet serene in a way. Wonderfully written, great job.

Thank you. I was acctually in high school when I wrote that. Luckily it didn't come from a personal expieriance, just something that flowed thru my mind and out of my pen.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
