    Growing into a woman

From my mothers' arm to now I am a woman.
I went through my younger years innocent and with no thought of tomorrow.
As I got closer to becoming a woman I felt how it felt to be hurt by a boy who didn't care in the first place.
I felt the pain of my grandmother leaving this earth to return no more.
I felt the pain of how the first time was not so great unless you are with a person who wants to spend their life with you instead the person just took it away from me.
I went out to the club but not with my parents blessing oh no I snuck out!
I stayed out late even though my mother said there is no good thing out there in the street for a woman after 12 but it went in one ear and out the other.
It seemed like I did everything contrary to what my parents told me to do!
I turned the bottle up to my head cause I enjoyed drinking but found out it don't look good for a woman to be drunk and it was not safe.
So to all my young ladies listen to your mothers they know what they are talking about because now I am a mother and now I have to shield my little girl and hope and pray she makes good choices even when I am not around!

This is nice, you grow-up and now your living life on life's terms.

Yes it is ashamed when daughters won't listen then they have to learn the hard way... I have three daughters and believe me I guard them like a hen guards her chicks... this was very good, you keep writing, honey...

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
