    Poem Commentary

Written for my Mom and Dad for their 50th anniversary

    Golden year

Fifty years ago today, a couple was joined
    in a special way.
James the husband, Virginia the wife,
started that day, headed for a brand new
    life.

    They faced many hardships, and
    obstacles along the way.
    They raised five children, and
    sent them on their way.

They tried to instill the important things
in life, working hard, being honest, a
    good husband or wife.

Here we are, family and friends alike,
    brought together to share,
the Golden year of that life.
