Going for the Key of "C"

I know that I'm quite crazy
    I'm sure that I'm a nut
But a curious thing just happened
As on the piano bench I sat

    A tiny little beetle bug
Was crawling on the key of "G"
And just as I almost smashed him
His little eyes looked up at me

    Because today I'm weepy
    And feeling quite alone
My mind has seemed to ponder
    Creatures in the helpless zone

The little ones gazing up at us
    The ones we tower over
The bugs, the worms, the flowers
Who are crushed by our careless power

    The discounted little children
    Abused and cast aside
By folks who are also suffering
Sliding down a pain strewn slide

    God help us to remember
    Each creature's right to live
And be cared for in a special place
That you, as God did give

So I let the little beetle
Move on to the key of "C"
And I can only pray that someday
Sopmeone will do the same for me

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
