GOD'S CREATURES
I sat on my lawn in the comfort of the old swing,
And I began to hear the whippoorwills sing.
They sang the same song over and over with skill,
The Lord seemed to whisper, peace be still.
The crickets chirped a joyful song,
To the Lord of Lords, we all belong.
The lightning bugs hummed as they flew along,
They are very tiny, but their light is so strong.
A toad jumped across the end of my shoe,
He croaked, I'm one of God's little creatures, too.
From God's creation there are lessons to be learned,
And by the spirit, much to be discerned.
For you see, no matter how great or how small,
Jesus is Lord of one and of all.
He desires from all of us joyful praise,
He wants us to honor Him in all of our ways.
So, lift up your head, let your voices be heard,
Let heaven and earth know rejoicing occurred.
