    Friendship

What would we do with out a friend?
Someone who supports us to the very end?

Would we stand alone against the world?
When all the problems at us are hurled.

I don't think we could make it alone,
We need someone there to help catch the stone.

We all need one good friend no matter what
Even if the flu we got.

They would bring us chicken soup if we ask,
They probably wouldn't even wear a mask.

Stick with us through thick and thin,
and later laugh about, "Remember When".

Of course, don't get me wrong.
More the merrier is my favorite song.

We can have many or we can have few,
Just as long as I have you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
