    Forgiven

    Forgiven
    7/17/2008
    Scott Wright
    For one month now
    I’ve lived a life,
    It was Satan’s playground
    In my own eyes.

    The devil pushed me
    To the ground
    Six feet under
    And I was out.

    I hid the pain
    I hid the fear
    So no one else
    Would have to hear.

I put on an act everyday
Pretending nothing was in my way.

    I know the Lord
    Has something planned
    Something I know
    I can’t understand.

    Lord take my hand
    Carry me home
    Cause I don’t understand
    What is going on.

    Guide me Lord
    To your place
    Take me there
    By your grace.

    I need you Lord
    To pick me up
    Take this round Lord
    For I give up.

    Fight this one Lord
    For your army grows weak
    Strengthen us Lord
As we stand to our feet.

    Together we fight
    Together we win
    Together forever
    Me and my friend.

    The gates of hell
    Shall not prevail
    With God in my heart
    I shall always excel.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
