    Fireman

3:00 am the fire call comes in,
Gear up, start the engines, and siren,
"Boys, lets save some life's," Yells the captain,
As the Guardian Angles soar to flight,
Flames of hell, rage in the night.

    Smoke and smoldering ash,
Engulfed in a roar of flames,
Each firefighter with a family and individual names,
Doing a job on instinct as they were trained to do.
    These are the brave few.

The risk of danger is so great,
These brave souls face man's fate,
There is no fear in these elite eyes,
For these are firefighters, not your average guys.

They put their life on the line so that I can live mine,
Jumping into harms way so that one can be rescued,
    And see another day.

Role models for children spread across this land,
Big red fire engines and strong firemen,
American flags flying high on ladders,
When there is a fire, saving a life is all that matters.

Everyday we salute you, for all the sacrifice you go through,
Heroes, your called and brothers when one of you fall,
Just remember America’s gratitude… when you see,
Red, white, and blue, we thank you for what you do.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
