Fear

Fear

Afraid to run, afraid to hide,
afraid of being so terrified.

Afraid of losing anything that is everything
to me and only I.

Scared that I will never be free
from the world that wants to torture me.

Scared that I will never be
in the slumber that will awaken me.

Truth be told,
the truth beheld is one that none will ever meet

Exept for me,
the one who is pressing toward a mournful feat

I want to tell all that is to be told,
Want to see all that is left to hold.

But I run away into the dark,
Afraid you'll flee at my word's start.

Never knowing what will grow
In a heart that one will never know.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
