    Father and Son

    In the beginning
    He could do no wrong.
    And our joy spread,
    With those stupid silly songs.

    We laughed and played,
    Those stupid silly games.
    And I teased my mind,
    Thinking we where the same.

    I look back then,
    How we where so happy.
    Just living the life,
    Until the moment arrived.

    It all happened so fast,
    Before I really grew up
We grew apart as the time passed,
And I guess it’s just my luck.

    He never took the time,
To be there when I needed him.
    All my school functions,
    He missed most of them.

    And the life lesson,
    He drilled into me,
    If you truly want it,
    You’ll make it happen.

    He never lived to it,
    The lesson he gave me.
    He used excuses,
    To make it SOUND alright.

He took all the anger within,
And turned it unto me as if I where a sin.
When all I needed was a role model,
    All I needed was him.

It’s getting closer to a year,
    Since I’ve seen him.
    And to be honest,
    I could probably wait ten.

But there will be a time,
    And soon I hope,
He’ll make an attempt to return,
Instead of sit there a mope.

    But until that day comes,
I’ll sit here waiting being a son.
And when that day comes a glorious return,
We’ll be once again, Father and Son.
