Poem Commentary

I just want he world to know that AIDS doesn't discriminate between race, religion, color or creed just like an equal oppertunity employer.

Famous

I'm very private liking to live in obscuritiy
So private that people rarely notice me
I've traveled the world seen many places
Master of disguise hiding behind different faces
In America I'm a farmer driving a tractor
While in Lodon I become a well known doctor
Waiting tables was my job in the lovely Paris
Back in Milan I'm a wealthy heiress
In Switzerland I work in the great bank of Geneva
Hopping to Japan I'm a rock punk diva
I've toured South America from Chile to Equador
In the jungles of the Amazon hunting wild boar
Africa is the best place i have been
So many faces for me to just blend in
Criss-crossing the world on every whim
I can even change my gender from her to him
To travel your thinking I must be paid
Not me, for I am AIDS

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
