    Facing Facts

My heart went out to a woman who didn't want it/
Vulnerability, hopes, & dreams are what i fronted/
Call it a bad investment/ for my heart crashed like the stock maket/
Hit rock bottom the day the woman i loved departed/
Why does love have to be so complicated?
Never looked for love out of all the women I've dated/
Fornicated/ never appreciated/ the love that might have waited/
So here I stand/ with my heart in my hand/
Hoping one day to give it away again.
But I'm bag homie/ as Erykah Badu has desribed/
Four lil' roadies/ my kids/ two bags on each side/
    No reason to hide/ three baby mamas/ we're almost a tribe!/
Alas, there's no we/ just my kids and me/ i wonder if love can actually be/
    If not/ my heart/ I'll just keep it/
Share it with whom I meet/
Or it'll just be the world's best kept secret.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
