Evolution of She
She is like a caterpillar
Wrapped too tightly in her cocoon
Fear’s arms warmly embrace her
With hesitation she is consumed
She is a spiderling
Trapped
In her intricately spun
Web of complacency
The artistry is amazing
But her aversion to
Criticism and judgement
Overshadow her love for her craft
And she allows no one to see
Her life mirrors that of a worker bee
Ensconced so deep within her "corporate hive"
EXISTING rather than LIVING
Doing her best to survive
She is a baby eagle
Cradled comfortably in a nest of dreams
Too afraid to leave the warmth and safety
Too afraid to test her wings
But she soon realizes that
Caterpillars live life in stages
Spider-lings, bees and baby eagles
All MUST grow
Life is about evolution
Overcoming fear and making changes
Can’t spend life hiding from her own shadow
So the cocoon no longer envelops her
Metamorphosis begins today
She is a bold, beautiful, black butterfly
Flitting merrily on her way
Arachnid is her new name
She weaves silky, poetic portrayals of life as she sees it
For all to partake
She is no longer ashamed
The worker bee has finally left the hive
To create and marvel in her own identity
She is a sassy, sweet, honey bee
No longer is she a slave to the
Expectations and restrictions of society
Soon there will be an empty nest
Baby eagle is ready to kiss the sky
Reveling in her new found allure and strength
She will forever fly...
