Eternal Slumber

Eternal Slumber

I ended up being alone,
Cold, damned frozen throne;
With my shadowed past hunting me,
Nightmares made by my mind can see.

All for the sake of moving on,
I tried to forget what's going on;
But there, the truth is still at sight,
In front, the battle pursued me every night.

Wake me up before i can't figure it anymore,
I know I'm stubborn but I can't hold much more;
I'm dying in my slumber nobody can't see,
Coz' in a nightmare you die quietly.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
