Poem Commentary

A more inspirational poem. I wanted to give it a shot. Dedicated to a girl who removed her account from this site. I thought she had such potential, and I wanted to express somethings about her doing that.

Escape

Another one down, bites the dust
given up on life
Another one falls, onto the ground
given up on hope

An Angel cries, a demon laughs
these wounds won't heal
An Angel fights, a demon stabs
I run for my life

Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide
A war is being fought
My life is yours, take me now
Save me from this hell!

The door is open, I can go
But he blocks the way
I stand there, I am scared
He doesn't seem to move

He walks closer, right for me
The Angel steps between
He points to me, I then run
The demon takes his life

I look back, I am stuck
He had died for me
His gift was death, mine is life
I am not afraid.

I like how you have a set style to this....there is form here that I don't see with a lot of other poets on this site. I tend to be a fan of form in poetry not necissarily rhyme because hell I don't do that myself. But I do like structure in all things....call me a neat freak if you will. As for content; very well said. A lot of religious bible pushing psychos would try to tell you you are writing of the beautiful gift that Jesus has given us all.....his death for our lives. That in truth is what this reminds me of but I'll never try to tell someone what they are writing about. However; the battle here between good and evil to save your life-seems like a very personal thing/a very good personal thing-seems quite obvous. Quite interesting to be able to read one's works and to see how the minds of others work. DQ

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
