Emergence

Emergence

I am the one who was never born.

I emerged oh so quiescently from the fathomless void.

You who chose to be blind saw me not as I emerged lethargically out of the chaotic slime.

You who saw me would not recognize me for who I was,

so you worshipped the great void from whence I came.

You erected great shrines unto it, and you bequeathed to it many names and titles.

You carved out statues from the very substance from which I emerged.

But me you knew not.

I revealed myself in a myriad of shapes and forms, but you opted not to Recognize me in my varying manifestations.

You refused to see me in the celestial spheres.

You failed to recognize me in the elements that engulf the tiny orb on which you dwell; Nor did you detect my presence in your offspring.

You overlooked my propinquity in your philosophy, as you did also miss me in your dreams.

You once thought you caught a glimpse of me in that one you called the Savior, but you ascribed to me those human frailties you call goodness, righteousness, and love.

So I am compelled to manifest myself in the only means in which you are able to recognize me; I reveal myself in your suffering.

Look at me!

I am in your misery and your pain.

I become visible in your catastrophes and your holocausts.

In these I will visit you, and when you look up from the smoke and the rubble you will see my face.

Then and only then will you recall seeing me before, and you will say, “It was there that I saw you! It was you who separated and divided the masses. It was you who sowed the seeds of hatred and intolerance; you who inspired us to erect fences and raise walls around us so we could feel the false sense of security that will ultimately destroy us.”

This you will say about me as you are compelled to remember.

And I will continue to visit you with fire, famine and misery until my spirit will drive you to destruction.

Your fences will fall, your walls will crumble, and your protective covering will no longer shield you from the igneous fire that will melt you, and you will dissolve back into that great malevolent void that you so blindly and ignorantly called GOD.

Then I will emerge once more from the chaos as I did so many times before, as you also will emerge anew, for you are the substance in which I am destined To manifest myself.

So know me.

Recognize me.

Commit to memory my malevolent form.

I am the one whom you fear.

I am the dark and hideous side of the tree!

Tremble at my presence.

I am EVIL.

I am the seed that balances the scale.

I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
