    DUTY, HONOR, LOYALTY

There once was a boy who became a man,
    fighting off in foreign lands.

An M16 and a hard bed roll
is what this boy would call his home.

Locked and loaded out on patrol,
not even knowing what's about to go on.

A shot rang out from across the way,
he hit the ground and began to pray.

Looking out from where it had came,
he spots the enemy as he takes aim.

From his M16 he squeezes a round,
splattering the enemy upon the ground.

Looking back to say "All Clear",
to see his buddy just laying there.

He picks him up cause he can't wait,
twenty clicks back and two hours late.

After debrief he was sad to see,
an unmarked bag laying at his feet.

He then knelt down and began to say,
Duty, Honor, and Loyalty will lead the way.....

A wonderful tribute to all those who have served and are serving! Thank you!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
