    Cowboys Solomn Prayer

    I kneel and pray today
    By the arena of life,
But I pause for just a moment
And think of that perfect ride.
I pray for those who have been here
And traveled on down the road,
For those who's made a mark in life
    But unfortunately had to go.
Lord I pray to you as I look
    Into this chute and see,
That this is my life staring
    Right back at me.
    I can't see where I'm heading
But only know where I have been,
Rodeo life is a hard one
and not for just for any man...

I have never been to a rodeo and have only seen one from the movie screen. It really must be a hard life and I can't imagine the excitement and fear that intertwine for someone such as yourself.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
