deeper

I deaden my senses and numb my mind,
Going deep enough to make me forget I don't belong
Because this place is wrecked, broken,
far too damaged - and yet it hopes for a new beggining!

It goes deeper than the reasons behind your ephemerous love,
deeper than your fleeting determination not to be
whilst your amount of freedom decays each day
as subtly as the grains of sand in this hourglass.

Deeper than her tracery of scars is the situation
of all those who pray for the light to shine upon this place.
Because someday she will convince herself to heal
and perhaps cut some of her strings.
