Dedicated to Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dedicted to Mr. King
Martin Luther King Jr., was born January 15, 1929,
Like all of the others, your message was way before it’s time
We thank the Lord for sending you... our beloved Reverend King
You bought the world hope when you said "let freedom ring!"
In so many ways you represented the love of Christ
Even so... for your message, you knew there would be a price
You were fearless, determined, you exposed ignorance and it’s band of lies
You delivered God’s Word with conviction, and opened many eyes
When I see my daughters hold hands with a child of another race
I always think of you and it brings a smile to my face
You knew your message wasn’t just for those with a certain color skin
Your courage made “me” brave and helped me dream again
You knew your story wasn't limited to issues of race relations
Your bravery has been told in many different nations
You were just like the Samaritan who chose to do good
Your message taught of unity, of peace, and true brotherhood
You got a glimpse of the future, you were allowed to see through God’s eyes
The Lord gave you strength as you pressed toward the prize
You led the prayers of We Shall Overcome through a quiet revolution
You called the government to pay the debt owed to God’s children according to the constitution
Yes, you were like Paul who answered the Macedonian cry
For what you believed in……you were willing to die
The great ones are the dreamers, so Mr. King I want to thank you
For leading the way, for doing God’s Will and proving that dreams really do come true
PS: Dr. King it was worth all the drama
Congratulations to our New President Mr. Barack Obama
Remember:
Someone’s blood paid for the freedoms that we take for granted today
Freedom of worship, to speak out, and just having things our way
The blood of the King of King’s redeemed us from the hands of death
Eternal life through Jesus Christ, even after our body takes it’s last breath
Don’t forget the ones who came before us, they gave their life so we could be free
Just as Jesus Christ shed His blood, so we could be with Him eternally
