    DAILY AFFAIR

    TODAY WAS JUST WONDERFUL

A WET MORNING BUT ENDED UP HOT

    KIDS PLAYED IN THE FIELD

ROAD BIKES AS WELL AS FLYING KITES

    THE SOUND OF SPLASHING

    FROM NEAR BYE

NOT A DARK CLOUD IN THE SKY

AS I SEE MY FRIENDS CLOSE

MAKES US THINK WHAT MATTERS MOST

    HEADING OUT TO RELEASE STRESS

USING HEAVY WEIGHTS PUSHING FROM MY CHEST

TONING ARMS WITH MY JAMS ON

BLASTING LOUD IN MY HEAD PHONES

GYM IS PACKED WALL TO WALL

WITH BODIES UP TO SEVEN FEET TALL

    JERMAINE LEE PATTERSON

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
