Crazy
Little people in my head,
telling me not to go to bed.
Instead,
I must run out the door in the buff,
until I feel the pressure of tiny handcuffs.
Pleading with the officer to let me go;
Stating that the little green men told me to put on a show.
He laughed until he almost peed his pants,
as he called over his trusty sidekick named Lance.
"Your mind isn't hazy!"
They said, pointing and laughing.
"You're just plain crazy!"
Locked in a room with rubber walls;
bouncing back and forth like mighty super balls.
Wearing a strange white jacket,
the little people told me that I couldn't quite hack it.
"Escape," they said.
"And run away to get wed!"
I twisted the metal bars,
and ran away under the bright, bright stars.
The man next door yelled out his window,
"Your mind isn't hazy!"
Pointing and laughing he said,
"You're just plain crazy!"
I found a pretty young girl --
her hair was swept into a swirl.
I asked her to marry me,
but she only laughed and said,
"Let me be!"
The little people said,
"Go and jump in the lake!"
I replied,
"But I can't swim, for goodness sake!"
I jumped in any how,
hitting my head on a boat's bow.
Underneath the water,
a voice in my head said,
"Your mind isn't hazy! We're the little people,
and we think that you're just plain crazy!"
